Blood in your pee

Blood in your pee can be a symptom of bladder and kidney cancers. Each year around 17,450 people in England are diagnosed with bladder or kidney cancers, and approximately 7,600 die from them. Early diagnosis can increase survival from 27-37% to 92-96%.

If you notice blood in your pee, even if just once, go to your doctor. You may have an infection, bladder or kidney stones – all of which may need treatment. However go to your doctor to make sure.

Blood in your pee can also be a sign of bladder cancer or kidney cancer, which is why it’s so important to see your doctor straight away. Early detection makes it easier to treat. Seeing your doctor could save your life.
