Mosaics for Mental Health

Finely hand-crafted mosaics created by a Trust Governor and service user are being used to brighten up meeting rooms and reception areas throughout North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP).

Cathy Trevaldwyn who is a retired science teacher and Trust Governor donated some of her finest works to the Trust as a way of thanking staff for the care she received.

Cathy who was a former patient at the Linden Centre said: “It is a great pleasure to use skills encouraged through therapy over the years to give back something to the Trust, and the staff particularly. Making mosaics is my own personal therapy and my aim is to improve the quality of the environment where I can. Artwork lifts the spirits, but is difficult to fund by the NHS.”

Some of Cathy’s works are located at the Jenny McIntyre Memorial Garden, Clacton, King’s Wood Centre, Colchester and the Seminar Room at the Linden Centre, Chelmsford. Cathy has plans for making more mosaics for other sites throughout the Trust.
